CWU's #PeoplesPost Bus Visits Paisley

Neil Bibby MSP has welcomed the Communication Workers' Union's #PeoplesPost bus to Paisley as part of the campaign to save Paisley Crown Post Office.

Thousands of customers have signed the CWU's petition against Post Office Ltd's proposals to close the popular Crown Post Office in the Piazza shopping centre and move services to back of a high street shop.

Neil says Post Office Ltd have failed to be open and transparent about the move and has tabled a formal response to the consultation, raising a number of concerns - including over the accessibility of the new location for older and disabled customers. He has also tabled a motion in the Scottish Parliament calling on Post Office Ltd to consider alternatives to the franchising process.

After signing the CWU's #PeoplesPost postcard, Neil Bibby MSP said:

"I'm pleased that the CWU campaign bus has visited Paisley. The CWU trade union are fighting hard not just to protect their members' jobs but they're also working hard alongside the community to try and save this valuable local service.

"The message from this event was loud and clear - Paisley in Scotland's largest town and it should continue to have its own dedicated Crown Post Office.

"Over the past few months, Post Office Ltd have not been transparent or open about their changes and are now damaging their reputation in this community with their actions.

"I am therefore calling again on Post Office Ltd, even at this late stage, to listen to the views of staff and customers and put a stop to this move."
